  • Overview


    The Associate is responsible for managing PPC and SEO campaigns for an assigned client base. The Associate manages the expectations of the client in addition to understanding and achieving client goals and objectives throughout campaigns.


    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Search Engine Marketing:

    • Possess in-depth understanding of PPC and SEO campaign management and best practices
    • Lead campaign execution, from keyword and copy development to optimizations and reporting
    • Creating and maintaining project plans in order to meet deliverable deadlines and provide clients with regular status updates
    • Extract actionable insights and optimizations from data in order to plan next steps across multiple marketing mediums
    • Auditing assigned accounts to ensure best practices are being implemented
    • Support client requests and engagement
    • Responsible for providing direction and guidance to Assistant(s)



    • Responsible for ongoing optimization efforts to meet campaign objectives, including budget pacing, bid management, and various strategic keyword optimizations
    • Facilitate and manage forecasting, budgeting, and pacing 


    • Responsible for working closely with creative agencies to optimize website content and experience for organic search engagement
    • Ability to identify technical issues on websites which limit organic visibility
    • Develop audits providing actionable recommendations to fill possible gaps in content 

    Client & Internal Relationships:

    • Lead day-to-day agency and client interaction
    • Keeps up with the latest trends in Search Engine Marketing via blogs, email newsletters, various websites, etc.
    • Manage relationship with search engines, such as Bing, Google, and Yahoo as well as technology partners, such as BrightEdge and DoubleClick, among others Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for Associate level 

    Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

    • Prepare, deliver and present client-facing deliverables
    • Work through client contacts to schedule follow ups and implement next steps
    • Collaborate with Carat cross-channel teams to plan search media in conjunction with broader media
    • Lead daily activities on assigned accounts including optimizations and timely responses to all client questions
    • Be the search engine marketing expert for assigned accounts
    • Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
    • Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
    • Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment
    • Assist in the training of junior team members
    • May be responsible for working with Supervisor to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget
    • May be responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
    • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them 

    Communication Skills:

    • Express oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
    • Write in a clear, compelling and concise manner
    • Organize ideas and information logically and sequentially
    • Develop client reports that are clear, compelling and persuasive
    • Move audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information 


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, internship in marketing, agency preferred
    • 2-4 years of Search Engine Marketing experience
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong interest in and familiarity with the Internet
    • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
