    The Assistant, Integrated Publishing assists in the researching and buying of print media.  As an entry level position, the Assistant, Integrated Publishing represents the start of a print buying career and is highly supervised by a Senior Associate, Integrated Publishing. 


    This position is essential in the day-to-day tactical management of the print buying account and requires an individual that works well in a team-based, fast paced, detail-oriented environment.   While expert print buying thinking is not expected, the successful Assistant, Integrated Publishing is resourceful and demonstrates the initiative to participate in advanced projects.


    The Assistant, Integrated Publishing position is training-intensive.  Aptitude for learning new skills (both technical and organic) and procedures is essential.  The Assistant, Integrated Publishing is expected to be an active participant, increasing participation over time in the position.  The Assistant, Integrated Publishing is also encouraged to contribute ideas and insights that will benefit our clients.


    Print Buying and Execution:

    • Assist in researching and buying print media
    • Responsible for providing accurate rate information to account services staff, client’s internal production department, and publications.
    • Provide the necessary follow through reporting for all buys to the accounts services staff or client direct (MRI Runs, Analysis, Post Analysis Reports, Tearsheet checking reports)
    • Works with accounting department to resolve any discrepancies on invoices, negotiates discounts, credits and make goods within the time frame required by the company
    • Demonstrate multi-tasking ability, keep multiple projects on-track, structuring and executing work
    • May be responsible for participating in New Business efforts and presentations


    Print Planning, assigned based on client need:

    • Provide training to team on Media Tools and IMS Planning Tools
    • Beginner level knowledge on organizing Flowcharts
    • Create and update Close Dates charts for all Brands


    Client & Internal Relationships:

    • Support Senior Print Buyers in preparing and delivering work to clients, colleagues within Carat
    • Manage client budget records
    • Manage internal/client status reports
    • Attend all status meetings when appropriate
    • Manage relationships with external client vendors
    • May be responsible for informing buying staff/clients of new opportunities or issues
    • May participate and contribute in face to face client meetings
    • Engage with all work-related contacts in a professional & respectful manner
    • Possess mature and professional business acumen in personal and written communications


    Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

    • Keep current with market research (industry periodicals, email newsletters, websites)
    • Demonstrate clear active listening skills and ability to apply learnings over time
    • Recognize potential issues and problems, know when to escalate and propose solutions, where possible
    • Take clear ownership of tasks assigned


    Communication Skills:

    • Express oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
    • Write in a clear, compelling and concise manner
    • Organize ideas and information logically and sequentially


    ·         Bachelor’s Degree

    ·         0-2  years industry experience

    ·         Demonstrate an affinity for numbers

    ·         Demonstrate an interest in newspapers and magazines

    ·         Desire to learn about Print Buying

    ·         Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    ·         Ability to learn server-based software and tools
