Carat is looking for a stellar Media Planner to join their growing team on a key automotive client. As Media Planner you’re the day-to-day contact of the account, helping the client meet their objectives and goals with a strategic thinking lens – you will think above and beyond. This type of thinking is what has built a strong relationship between the team and the client.

The planning team works incredibly closely with different teams to help develop, implement and analyze their plans. Working from the collaborative spirit of DAN, members of the team are actively involved in supporting all the client’s media related needs.

This client is a global automotive client with continued loyalty for years. A nuanced and layered client, there is anticipated to be continued steady growth globally with the client and will see this account having great challenges for those who work on it. Key Accountabilities:

  • Hands on experience with full cycle planning and development. Must have high level of proficiency with implementing media plans Thorough understanding of the media process, media department and inter-department relationships
  • Strategizes ways to effectively use media dollars to the greatest benefit of the client
  • Creates and implements media plans, flowcharts, buying guidelines
  • Prepares testing plans & results analysis, budget summaries, and competitive reports
  • Assists in the development of media presentations, general overviews, and tactical POVs
  • Compiles reports of competitive market/media information for each brand/category
  • Provides input into existing and emerging communications opportunities
  • Supports ACPD/CPS as a facilitating contact point for client’s internal media staff and the primary contact point to client’s brand staff when media issues are discussed
  • May oversee the work of junior team members (planners, assistants), helping to mentor them and ensuring that all deliverables are error free before they are submitted to Supervisors/clients
  • Involved in day-to-day client interaction and daily deliverables
  • Assists Sr. staff in advising clients on the best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs
  • Assists with growing business opportunities within current clients
  • Keeps up with the latest trends in media via research
  • May get the opportunity to participates and leads, if appropriate, face to face client and vendor meetings
  • Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the department
  • Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Manages multiple deliverables and has the ability to seamlessly transition among them


  • 2+ years of previous experience working on an automotive client would be considered a valuable asset
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered ideas and solutions
  • Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives
  • Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively
  • Experience with online research tools such as Nielsen, @Plan, AdRelevance, etc.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Communication Skills:

  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner
  • Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially
  • Develops client reports that are clear, compelling and persuasive
  • Ensures key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc
  • Proactively resolves issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
