    The Digital Media Planner has the primary day-to-day responsibility for assigned accounts and is expected to be familiar with all account details as they pertain to digital investment activities – this includes the complete implementation of digital media campaigns. In this role you will provide input into the overall digital investment direction as well as development and execution of buying recommendations under the direction of the Account Director.


    A minimum of four years’ experience is required; working within an Investment Arm to accomplish the effective creation and development of investment recommendations and negotiations in digital media for global and local brands. The Digital Media Planner will have a minimum of one Coordinator report into them and is responsible for their overall development.


    The Digital Media Planner is the steward of the entire investment and implementation process of Digital and works very closely with the wider Investment Arm and Digital Ad Operations.


    Media Activation and Execution:

    • Provides digital partner selection and rationale to client
    • Assess and evaluates vendor proposals in line with client objectives
    • Assist in developing investment strategies for maximizing media dollars and media efficacy
    • Acts as a key negotiator working with vendors to ensure smart investments are made on behalf of client/agency
    • Performance media background (acquisition campaign based planning/buying) desired but not mandatory
    • Understanding of B2B vs. B2C audience
    • Ability to make optimizations recommendation based on insights pulled from data
    • Maintains media budgets and changes to media plan post negotiations
    • Keep abreast of all invoices, billing and delivery issues; oversees accounts discrepancies
    • Works with creative agency to understand creative assets available and any custom placements
    • Manages intricacies of various digital tracking services, including Google’s Doubleclick Campaign Manager
    • Works with Digital Ad Operations to ensure flawless implementation of digital media and supports in all digital media tracking troubleshooting
    • Analyzes tracking results and write detailed summaries of end of campaign results
    • Accurately aligns digital media investment with correct measurement KPIs. 


    Client & Internal Relationships: 

    • Oversee day-to-day partner interaction as far as buy details are concerned (rates/costs, deadlines for asset delivery, launch timeline etc)
    • Manage expectations of client – critically can defend media plan selection to internal and external stakeholders
    • Informs client of new opportunities or issues
    • Leads vendor relationships for their key accounts
    • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets a good example for coordinator level  


    Strategic Thinking & Leadership: 

    • Works with management team (Manager/Director) to develop strategies for digital buys
    • Strategizes ways to most effectively use digital media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients
    • Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
    • Provide guidance to team members to nurture/promote team environment
    • Responsible for working with Manager to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget – strong ability to delegate.
    • Responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents


    • Bachelor’s Degree or college degree in relevant field of study
    • 2+ years of media planning/buying experience, including at least 2 years focused on online
    • High level of proficiency with full planning cycle and development/implementation of media plans
    • Thorough understanding of the media process, media department and inter-department relationships
    • Strong negotiating/vendor management skills
    • High level of confidence with an ability to manage expectations with internal and external stakeholders
    • Strongly proficient with numbers and budgets, with a preference for College/University Mathematics education
    • Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered solutions
    • Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives
    • Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively
    • Functions well in high-pressure situations, with an ability to stay calm and collected, and deliver efficient solutions
    • Strong prioritization skills, with an expert ability to manage one’s time for optimal output
    • Familiarity with offline media concepts
    • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
