Overview

The Associate has the primary day-to-day responsibility for assigned accounts and is expected to have an understanding of the client’s overall business and marketing objectives.  The Associate is the steward of the entire ooh planning and buying process and provides mid-level strategic recommendations to the senior media team.   The Associate is expected to have a strong working knowledge of the media space (both traditional OOH and integration of mobile) and available media research.  They are also expected to be proficient with industry tools to support delivery of insights and measurement for OOH.  The Associate is expected to be an active participant on the business; consistently engaged and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit our clients.

Responsibilities

Media Planning and Execution:

·         Aids in the creation of client media objectives and strategies

·         Determines partner selection and program details and rationale

·         Manages the collection/distribution (under the supervision of Supervisor/AMD) of RFP templates, collection of specs, overage requirements, deadlines, shipping instructions from the Suppliers and with any pre-approval requirements for art work/clearances.

·         Collaborates with suppliers and the Media Investment team to deliver added value and push back for more where appropriate

·         Assists in developing buying strategies for maximizing media dollars, and handling media negotiations

·         Authors documents relating to the plan (must be able to create media brief and RFP from client input)

·         Creates and maintains media plan flowcharts and media buy authorizations based on client’s various initiatives

·         Maintains media budgets or media spend summaries

·         Work in conjunction with AMP on billing and invoicing to maintain consistent process

·         Keep abreast of all invoice, billing and delivery issues; know when to escalate discrepancies to supervisors

·         Writes POVs as needed and evaluate new media types / outlets

·         Analyzes audit statements and syndicated research at a sophisticated level

·         Provides creative analysis and manage creative rotation charts

·         Collects and reviews all POP and prepares post buy reports

 

 Client & Internal Relationships:

·         Manages day-to-day client interaction

·         Manages expectations of clients and deliverables

·         Works closely with the client throughout entire program to maintain performance and resolve any performance issues

·         Assists Supervisor in advising clients on best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs

·         Assists Supervisor in growing business opportunities within current clients

·         Keeps abreast of developments in digital OOH with awareness  of technologies and partners available to drive accountability and consideration of OOH

·         Informs client/team of new opportunities or issues

·         Participates and leads, if applicable, face to face client and vendor meetings

·         Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for assistant level

 

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

·         Works with management team (Supervisor/AMD/Media Director) to develop strategies for media plans/buys

·         Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department

·         Strategizes ways to most effectively use OOH media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients

·         Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner

·         Proactively resolves issues, know when to and to whom to escalate

·         Provides guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment

·         Assists in the training of junior team members

·         Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them

 

Communications Skills:

·         Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications

·         Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner

·         Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially

·         Assists in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs

·         Develops client reports that are clear, compelling and persuasive

·         Ensures key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s Degree

·         1-3 years of media planning/buying experience, including at least 1 year focused on OOH media

·         Participation in at least one full planning cycle and development/implementation of at least two media plans

·         Thorough understanding of the media process, media department and inter-department relationships

·         Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered ideas and solutions

·         Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum

·         Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives

·         Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively

·         Media vendor negotiation experience

·         Experience using DoubleClick Dart and AtlasDMT adserving technologies

·         Experience with research tools such as comScore Metrix, Dynamic Logic, Insight Express, Nielsen, @Plan, AdRelevance

·         Familiarity with offline media concepts

·         Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
