The role of the Insights Associate is to assist the Consumer Insights Managers in identifying how the digital economy is shaping the U.S. consumer.  This is accomplished by using proprietary and industry research resources to make media-actionable recommendations for Carat planning teams and when needed, new client prospects. The Associate will be responsible for analyzing data and helping bring the consumer to life.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Consumer Insights & Marketplace Analysis for Planning and Activation:

  • Support the evaluation, analysis, and implementation of research that will drive consumer insights, improve marketing plans, help understand and predict consumer behavior, and measure marketing campaign effectiveness
  • Review and evaluate new and existing research resources in terms of quality, reliability, methodology and ease of use
  • Develop ongoing trainings with planning teams
  • Utilize data in a compelling way to craft a story
  • Help to maintain and design consumer and marketplace library and keep up-to-date on current marketing/consumer/media trends
  • Assist Managers with conducting and leveraging research to define key customer segments and understand segment preferences, behaviors, attitudes, and demand drivers
  • Collect and analyze data, including purchasing behaviors, channel usage, survey responses, etc. and provide recommendations for targeted marketing opportunities
  • May be responsible for informing team/client of new opportunities or issues


Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Assist VP and Supervisor in meeting client deadlines and setting expectations
  • Assist VP and Supervisor in advising clients on best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs
  • Assist Managers in growing business opportunities within current clients
  • Participates and leads, if appropriate, face to face client meetings
  • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams


Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables and perform with a high level of accuracy


 Communications Skills:

  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner
  • Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially
  • Assists in the development of presentation materials that are clear, compelling and persuasive



  • Bachelor’s Degree (Degree in Sociology, Marketing, Psychology or Statistics preferred)
  • Experience in media planning, consumer research, account planning, Digital marketing, or media research
  • Strong mathematical skills set and strong understanding of Statistics
  • Basic knowledge of SPSS a must
  • Results oriented, but more importantly, focused on delivering accurate and reliable data
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to visualize/synthesize data to tell a compelling story



  • Experience with tools such as Nielsen, comScore, @Plan are a plus
  • Retail category knowledge a plus
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills as well as a sense of curiosity
