Overview

OVERALL SUMMARY - POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Supervisor, Search Marketing is a base-level management position. This position is accountable for planning, managing, and executing PPC and SEO campaigns for an assigned client base. The Supervisor, Search Marketing will work with the Associate Director(s) and Director to execute and enhance the strategic tone for the assigned accounts. In addition, the Supervisor, Search Marketing will be responsible managing a team of Associates and Assistants – developing their skills, evaluating their performance, and managing their growth.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Search Engine Marketing:

  • Overall:
  • Ensure PPC and SEO best practices are being followed as well as the adoption of new features or processes
  • Develop PPC and SEO strategy in partnership with the Associate Director(s) and Director as well as internal Carat teams
  • Act as the internal point person, where appropriate, for Carat, external agencies, and clients
  • Ensure constant communication between Carat and various creative agencies (and other external partners) and ensure brand/team processes align with other brand/teams
  • Balance, prioritize and assign work associated with multiple, concurrent projects
  • Keeps up with the latest best practices and trends in Search Engine Marketing and discusses potential impact with team on client work
  • Create, or assist in creating, POVs to be shared with internal and external teams
  • Responsible for providing direction and guidance to Assistant(s) & Associate(s)

 

  • PPC:
  • Drive overall strategy of paid search refresh ensuring all key components such as ad extensions, landing page strategy and ad group development
  • Provide optimization recommendations ensuring that performance is aligning with agreed upon plan with client
  • SEO:
  • Responsible for working closely with creative agencies to optimize website content and experience for organic search engagement
  • Conduct extensive website & category analysis and provide recommendations to enhance the standing of client websites in natural search listings

 

 

 

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Serve as a resource for associates and assistants for advice, counsel and mentorship
  • Maintain client relationships at appropriate levels
  • Manages expectations of clients and deliverables
  • Leads face to face client and vendor meetings
  • Mentor junior SEO team members on projects and practice development
  • Ensure key information is being provided to the team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
  • Is approachable and solution-oriented when presented with problems/issues by staff and team
  • May be responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
  • Is mindful of the client’s point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client
  • Breaks down problems and issues into critical parts which can be resolved
  • Oversee team activities, maintain overall plan quality control

 

 

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4-5 years PPC and SEO related work experience
  • Experience in online marketing and current knowledge of trends and innovations in traditional and digital media
  • Knowledge of analytic tools such as Google Analytics, BrightEdge, and Omniture is a preferred
  • Ability to articulate strategic foundation for their development
  • Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven leadership skills and management experience
