Overview

Carat Detroit is experiencing more growth! We are activly seeking, and hiring, media planners, buyers and operations.

 

The primary responsibility of the Buyer is to negotiate cost efficient schedules on behalf of the clients.  Supported by the Assistant  Buyer, the Buyer coordinates all aspects of the buying process.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Media Buying and Execution:

· Negotiate cost efficient schedules on behalf of the clients

· Coordinate all aspects of the buying process

· Maintain all purchase schedules

· Work closely with vendors

· Generate DDS reports as required

· Seek creative solutions to enhance buy product

 

Client & Internal Relationships:

· Manage all day-to-day client interaction

· Manage expectations of clients and their deliverables

· Helps supervisor to advise clients on best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs

· Grow business opportunities within current clients

· Work with supervisor to develop and oversee junior staff, manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhere to (within) budget

· Keeps up with the latest trends in media

· Informs client/team of new opportunities or issues

· Participates and leads, if applicable, face to face client meetings

· Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for assistant level

 

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

· Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment

· Insure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

· May be responsible for constructing  and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents

· Works with management team (Supervisor/AMD/Media Director) to develop strategies for media buys

· Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department

· Strategizes ways to most effectively use media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients

 

Communications Skills:

· Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications

· Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner

· Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially

· May assist in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs

· Develop client reports that are clear, compelling and persuasive

· Move audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information

· Insure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

 

 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

 

· Bachelor’s Degree

· 2-3 years of media buying experience, including at least 1 year at the Buyer level

· Strong analytical skills 

· Media vendor negotiation experience

· Working knowledge of DDS

· Knowledge of media research terminology

· Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Ability to maintain team member and publisher relationships

· Strong negotiation skills that result in measurable savings for clients

· Motivation to participate in staff management and larger agency development

· Demonstrated ability to work autonomously / Can perform as a leader with minimal supervision

· Exceptional leadership skills demonstrated through staff development and ownership of department/agency initiatives

· Ability to properly delegate tasks to staff to ensure appropriate utilization
